A New Chapter in our Story – Introducing our Refreshed Website

Our school has long been a place of stories—great stories. Stories of young men growing, learning, and forging lifelong bonds which live generations on through our Old Boys particularly and all those who have been part of our both great and humble story for the last 129 years. Stories of tradition, excellence, and the values which shape our Michaelhouse community. In the past, these stories were shared in print, passed down through generations, and carried forward by those who lived them. But as the world has evolved, so too has the way we tell our story, and as part of that story – our story – we are very excited to introduce our new website.

The digital era has given us new ways to connect, and a lot of thought has gone into our new website to ensure we are reflecting that transformation. Websites have become an essential part of any school, serving as a digital front door, offering prospective students and families a glimpse into our values, traditions, and offerings. While no digital platform can fully capture the spirit of belonging that we share as being part of our Michaelhouse community, our new website offers a glimpse into the traditions, values, and opportunities that make us who we are.

The World Wide Web was invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989, and the first website went live in 1991. Since then, websites have evolved from simple text-based pages to dynamic, interactive platforms that allow institutions to engage with their communities in meaningful ways. Schools in particular, have embraced websites as a way to share their ethos, history, and opportunities with the world.

With its own place in digital history, Michaelhouse has long recognized the importance of having a digital presence. Michaelhouse has long had a presence online but our refreshed website marks a new chapter in how we introduce ourselves to the world. Over the years, the school has maintained an online footprint, ensuring that our rich traditions and values are accessible to a wider audience. It is important to note that our website is designed not as an all-encompassing communication tool—our Housemasters, OM+, and the St Michael’s Club remain the best communication channels for our parents, alumni, and past parents—but rather as a window into who we are for those who may not yet know us.

Of course, as anyone who has had the privilege of walking through our beautiful campus and meeting our Michaelhouse community knows, the best way to truly experience Michaelhouse is to visit in person—to walk our red-bricked quads, meet our boys, parents and staff, and feel the energy that makes our school special. And you, our parents, who are already part of our family, you are our greatest ambassadors. Your pride, passion, and dedication to Michaelhouse are what truly carry our story beyond these walls. We are deeply grateful to each of you who continues to represent our school with such enthusiasm and heart.

If you know someone exploring senior school options, we encourage you to encourage them to explore our website and follow the relevant registration links. We look forward to welcoming new families into our tradition of excellence and continuing to share the great stories that make Michaelhouse what it is.
