Community Partnership Trust
What exactly is the Michaelhouse Community Partnership Trust?
Michaelhouse Community Partnership Trust (‘CPT’) is a registered non-profit organization (“NPO”), focused on improving the functionality of schools as places of learning within their footprint, with a special focus on leadership development, teacher capacity and training, infrastructure maintenance and educational technology. The partner schools are based in communities characterized by high levels of unemployment, poverty, and illiteracy within 30 minutes travelling from Michaelhouse. CPT works in 16 non-fee-paying schools between Lions River and Mooi River with more than 6,000 learners.
The Team and the CPT Goals
The CPT has a dedicated team of three full-time staff supported by a committee of trustees and committed volunteers.
The Community Partnerships team engages energetically with the principals, heads of department and teachers at local community schools whilst working closely with the Department of Education Circuit Managers involved in the Lions River and Mpofana circuit.
The goal is to jointly devise projects and programmes to address challenges and opportunities for improvement of the educational experiences for their learners. In this way, the projects the team involves itself with are better tailored to the relevant context, needs and availability of the schools, are better accepted and applied, resulting in more positive impact and results.
