As you know, the boys have only been back at school for less that 48 hours but this edition of the eNews is, nevertheless, full of the activities of the boys – mainly over the holidays.
I do hope that the July holidays provided an opportunity for you to spend time with your sons and to grow closer to them. I realise that the vast majority of parents would have been working as usual, but I trust that there will have been several opportunities to develop an understanding of the various ways in which your boys are progressing towards adulthood, and what their aspirations, hopes and dreams may be.
Our Director of Admissions, Murray Witherspoon, made reference on the Old Boys’ WhatsApp Group to a conversation he had had with his son, Harry, who is in B Block and, thus, has 18 months to go before leaving Michaelhouse. The conversation ranged over his future and underlined the point that very few boys will have a concrete idea as to where they may be in the 10-15 years after leaving school particularly as new possibilities unfold and new areas for focus arise, but there is value in keeping as many options as possible open as their post-school life unfolds.
