Rector’s eNews – 17 January 2024
/ Newsletters / Rector's eNewsWe have had huge storms recently across KwaZulu-Natal and, more specifically, in our area of the Midlands and this has made preparation for the start of the year extremely challenging, but we were able to welcome our new E Block boys to Michaelhouse on a glorious day on Sunday. The 128 new boys have begun to settle in and they have started a five-day orientation programme to help them to understand the Michaelhouse Way as quickly as possible.
The boys in Tatham are in their new House which has elicited much favourable comment from boys and parents alike. And work has begun on Pascoe whose boys are now in the old Tatham; the Pascoe boys have taken some of the paraphernalia specific to Pascoe with them, for example to their temporary common room, and their House has been spruced up.
The excitement in the rest of the boys returning to school last evening was palpable and bodes well for 2024. Whilst we do not aim to grow any larger than we currently are, we have opened with 634 boys in the school and with significant waiting lists which enables us to get off to a strong start to the year.
