Rector’s eNews – 09 February 2022
/ Rector's eNewsWhilst the rain over the past weekend put an end to our hopes of cricket matches against Clifton, we enjoyed some competitive fixtures in both basketball and water polo against our Durban counterparts on Saturday. Mid-week cricket fixtures against various opponents were also arranged to keep some of our our cricketers in lower teams engaged.
Society meetings have also started in earnest and, as I have previously mentioned, it is mandatory for all boys to belong to at least one Club or Society as it is part of the holistic growth of young people to develop a range of worthwhile and, perhaps, lifelong interests. The following list may give you an idea of the range of societies available: African Affairs, Agricultural Society, Barista Society, Catholic Society, Chess Club, Conservation Club, Cycling Society, Debating and Public Speaking, Deep Sea Fishing, Film Appreciation Society, First Aid Society, Flyfishing and Trout Club, Flying Club, Inventors Club, Investors Club, Chapel Choir, Orchestra, Marimba Bands (Competition Band, Performance and Junior), Performance Arts Society, Photographic Society, President Awards, Problem Solving Society, Philosophy and Politics Society, Readers Society, Scuba Club, Sports Archives Society, Snell Society, Social Awareness Society, Surfing Club, Theatre Tech Society, Toastmasters (Seniors Only) and Wordsmiths Society.
It would be really helpful if you could ask your son which of these societies he has engaged with as we clearly want the boys to be enthusiastic about their involvement.
