Everything
Money Can’t Buy
There’s no measure for belonging, no yardstick by which to gauge character but you can’t miss the humble confidence of a Man of Michaelhouse: the confidence to question, to be compassionate, to step outside of a comfort zone and be open to possibility.

Admissions Events
Each year, Michaelhouse hosts a series of admissions events and information sessions for prospective parents across South Africa, the African continent, and internationally. These gatherings offer an opportunity to meet members of our admissions team, gain insights into the Michaelhouse experience, and explore the unique values and offerings of our school. We look forward to welcoming families and answering any questions about life at Michaelhouse.

LEARNING
A 680ha Classroom,
24 Hours a Day
Senior school is about more than academics and while a significant focus is given to studies our holistic approach leverages our unique setting and is complimented by a fully resident academic staff. Our methodology is informed by our belief in research which shows that a boy’s learning needs are quite different to those of a girl.
SPORT
A Culture
of Participation
At Michaelhouse participation in sport is as much about discovering athletic flairs and passions as it is about understanding the role we can play in a collective endeavour. Supported by world-class facilities and a cutting-edge strength and conditioning programme Michaelhouse is able to field more sports teams than most schools in KwaZulu-Natal. This focus on playing and everything it implies – from pitching up and pitching in to being coachable and prepared to being able to win graciously and to lose rather than being beaten – reinforces the spirit of sport as an opportunity to learn in an environment obsessed with results.
cultural programme
All the World’s a Stage
Michaelhouse nurtures a vibrant cultural programme where our boys can discover wider talents through music, drama, art, debating and other expressive opportunities. From our art studios, workshops and galleries to a diversity of stages, indoor theatre and outdoor amphitheatres, a recording studio and a state-of-the-art green screen production suite our boys enjoy a constellation of artistic environments to think critically, develop confidence, communication skills, and a deeper appreciation of the creative arts.
PASTORAL CARE
Michaelhouse: a Home From Home
We offer exceptional pastoral care, anchored by fully resident academic staff and dedicated Housemasters who live near the boys they support. A close-knit team runs each of our ten Houses—Housemasters, assistants, House Mothers, tutors, and interns—who know each boy personally and support his full development. Senior boys mentor juniors in our long-standing Cop/Cack system, building trust and connection within each House. Beyond the Houses, our counselling department and 24-hour medical centre provide expert support. Our use of the STEER program earned us the 2024 World Steer School of the Year. As an Anglican Foundation school, our resident chaplain offers steady spiritual guidance. Michaelhouse is committed to the full well-being of every boy every day.
