Why Michaelhouse?

Michaelhouse is a school of established heritage with an innate respect for the individual. It is this long held tradition that distinguishes Michaelhouse from other senior boys’ schools.

Values, Mission and Vision

Our Values

To live our lives according to the Christian values of integrity, humility, compassion and courage in service to our community and country.

Our Vision

Academics

Academic pursuits receive priority at Michaelhouse. Research shows that a boy’s learning needs are quite different to those of a girl. Michaelhouse places special emphasis on teaching programmes that support this difference.

Improved Learning

Sport

The educational programme of any top school should reflect a balance between academic, cultural, environmental and sporting activities. In this respect Michaelhouse endeavours to remain at the cutting edge of each pursuit.

14 Sport Options

Arts

Creating opportunities to develop the imagination, experimenting with ideas and experiencing the joy of creative expression are fundamental to the intellectual development of a Michaelhouse boy.

Vibrant Programmes

Boarding Houses

There are ten Houses at Michaelhouse. These include Founders, East, West, Tatham, Farfield, Pascoe, Baines, Mackenzie, Ralfe and McCormick. Each House is under the care of a Housemaster who acts in “Loco Parentis.”
