Individual Theory and Harmony lessons are also on offer
In E and D Block, all boys participate in the Arts and Culture programme as outlined by the IEB. Two experienced and highly qualified teachers conduct these classes which gives musically gifted boys the opportunity to excel in their chosen field, whether it be theory, ensemble work or music technology.
From C Block the Music Syllabus of the IEB is covered in preparation for their A Block exam. This is a creative, innovative and stimulating syllabus but does require commitment and dedication from the boy.
Boys taking an instrument will be encouraged to undergo External Theory and Practical examinations, although it is not compulsory. These exams are externally assessed but usually take place in our Band Room in the Music School. In collaboration with the teacher, the boy may choose any of the Trinity Guildhall, Trinity Rock School, ABRSM or Unisa external exams.
